I’ve heard quite a few people unhappy that the new achievement system spams their guildchat relentlessly, even when they’ve turned off global achievement announcements.

Here’s how to disable them:

For nearby/chat announcements

  1. Right click on the tab of your chat window
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. In the left-hand column, pick “Other”
  4. In the right-hand area, look for an option for ‘Achievement Announce’; uncheck it

For guild announcements (as discovered by my guildmate Wildence, after a bit of adept Googlefu)

  1. Right click on the tab of your chat window
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. In the left-hand column, pick “Chat”
  4. In the right-hand area, look for an option for ‘Guild Announce’; uncheck it

Enjoy!

If I had actually been listening to the moaning & whining of people who don’t want to celebrate in the achievements of others I could have mentioned at the time that I knew how to turn off/move/make paper aeroplanes out of the achievement announcements ages ago! But I was tuned out trying to concentrate on whatever important thing I was doing (mailbox pole dancing maybe…? an achievement in itself for a male dorf) and so missed my chance and had to swallow my pride as Wildence proved that he doesn’t just use Google for looking up lyrics to Britney Spears & Spice Girls songs!!

I want retro-active credit dammit! In fact, I want an achievement that announces in all chat windows and CAN’T BE TURNED OFF! >.<

*pant pant* That is all…the angrydorf needs a lie down.

The credit was for who I found out from, not who found it first. :)
