As a tankadin... the sanctuary nerf sucks. It's only useful for mana starved pally tanks now. But if they're keeping the deep talent to refresh divine plea when you attack, we'll be getting back a ton of mana all the time anyway. Sanc might not be useful in raids anymore. Soloing, very much yes. The nerf to Shield of the Templar doesn't matter, since they're buffing the damage of the spells individually. Overall the prot tree is getting a lot few talent points with all the 5 points talents becoming 3 or 2 points. I played with the talent calculator on wowhead last week and can get pretty deep into ret now, while keeping all my tank powers. Maybe I should copy to the test realm and compare my numbers.

Unless I'm missing something, when the 3.1 changes first started trickling out, it looked like prot was getting a FAT dps nerf. Now it looks like we'll have a lot of talent points left to offer other raid utility.

<i>"The Blessed Hands change is a nice buff; it previously reduced mana cost and increased dispel resistance for all hands. It’s worth noting that the new version provides no benefit for Hand of Protection, but the other changes are useful both for PvP and PvE. It’s actually a viable alternative to Imp BoWis or Imp Lay on Hands now."</i>

I guess it's a marginal PvE buff vs a significant PvP nerf. Dispel resistance for Hands within Holy is a major part of what makes the 37/0/34 spec so successful in PvP and removing it may make at least 8 points in Prot mandatory. In terms of PvE I do wonder just how much use Hand of Salv and Sacrifice will get. The latter synergises pretty well with Beacon, but the value of the former is largely dependant on tank threat which so far hasn't appeared to be much of an issue. I guess we shall have to wait and see.

BTW, looking forward to part II of your Argent Tourney guide.

I guess I can understand it with taking Dual Spec into account, if you want to be able to tank things you'll have to have Prot as your second spec (which I was planning on doing anyway.)

Still, I agree that it's a very disappointing change.
